25 Senate Republicans Secretly Voted to Fund ObamaCare

100705-N-5574R-195

We just witnessed 25 Senate Republicans who went against their pledges… against their constituents… against their previous voting record… against their conscience… and against America by voting to fund ObamaCare. Allow me to explain…

Here is the fundamental message which we need to pay attention to. By voting for final cloture they rolled over. They could have stood firm and demanded a 60 vote threshold but they let America get screwed by a simply majority vote which they knew they would lose. So don’t let these 25 republicans tell you that they voted against Obamacare because they did not. This message, from Tea Party Patriots, was forwarded to me by Claudia Neely.

Below is the message from Tea Party Patriots:

Senate Votes to Fund Obamacare

25 Republicans just voted to fund Obamacare.The cloture vote to end debate on the House passed Continuing Resolution happened just moments ago. 25 Republicans voted in favor of ending debate, even though they knew that it would result in Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid attaching an amendment to that would allow funding for Obamacare. These 25 Republicans were relying on 5 Democrats to switch over on final passage, rather than relying on themselves to draw a line in the sand and demand a 60 vote threshold to fund Obamacare. They will try to tell you that on final passage of the bill they voted against Obamacare, but the simple truth is – their vote for cloture was a vote to fund Obamacare. Simple logic would have told them that if they voted on cloture and allowed Harry Reid to strip the defunding measure out of the bill that it would easily pass on a 51 vote simple majority.Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee along with a few others have been leading the charge for the American people for the past 6 weeks to stop Obamacare. They have worked tirelessly to stand up for the American people and they have proven that the majority of the “ruling elite” Republicans are not listening to their constituents.Special thanks to the following for listening to the American People: Crapo (R-ID), Cruz (R-TX), Enzi (R-WY), Fischer (R-NE), Grassley (R-IA), Heller (R-NV), Inhofe (R-OK), Lee (R-UT), Moran (R-KS), Paul (R-KY), Portman (R-OH), Risch (R-ID), Roberts (R-KS), Rubio (R-FL), Scott (R-SC), Sessions (R-AL), Shelby (R-AL), Toomey (R-PA), Vitter (R-LA).Here’s the list of Senators who voted to fund Obamacare today before they voted against it. Call them and tell them that their games aren’t fooling you and youwill not stand for it.

    This would be 18th government shutdown in U.S. history
    From NBC’s Pete Williams
    In official parlance, they’re called “spending gaps,” a term the experts prefer to “government shutdown,” because the government doesn’t fully shut down. They’ve been imposed 17 times since 1976, the year Congress began its revised budgeting process.

  4. Grandma GG says:

    I received this in my email tonight. I have no idea why since I have never been in communication with Mr. Graham. So who is right here….did he or did he not vote to defund it?

    LindseyGraham.com
    Dear Friends,

    Today, I proudly voted to defund Obamacare, and I am proud that every Senate Republican united in support of the House-passed provision to defund Obamcare.

    I only wish that more Senate Democrats, many of whom were responsible for Obamacare’s passage into law, would have voted with us.

    Unfortunately, the Democrat-controlled Senate defeated the House-passed defund Obamacare provision by a straight party line vote 44-54.

    With Democrats in control of the Senate, we needed Democrats to join with the American people who want Obamacare stopped in its tracks. Based upon the Democrats unanimous votes in support of funding Obamacare, they must not have gotten the message.

    I fought and voted against Obamacare in 2010. Since then, I have tried to stop the law’s implementation any way I can:
    Supported ending the special exemption for Congress from Obamacare;
    Supported ending the special exemption for President Obama from Obamacare;
    Authored legislation to allow states to opt-out of Obamacare;
    Cosponsored legislation to repeal Obamacare;
    Cosponsored legislation to prohibit the funding of Obamacare;
    Cosponsored legislation which defunds the IRS’ implementation of Obamacare;
    Cosponsored a bill to repeal the individual mandate in Obamacare;
    Sent a letter with my Republican colleagues requesting the Obama Administration grant relief to all Americans by delaying implementation of Obamacare so Congress can adopt common-sense reforms; and
    Offered an amendment to defund implementation of the individual and employer mandates required under Obamacare.
    Obamacare is, has been, and will remain a financial disaster for our nation. I will continue to fight to repeal, replace, defund, and opt-out of this disaster of a law.

    Sincerely,

    Lindsey Graham

    ps. Also, Flake and Hatch did not vote. This is one of the more important votes they’ll cast this year, and both got elected last year. Hmmm, wonder where THEY were? Hiding in the closet maybe?!
