When I first heard Obama say that “ISIL is not Islamic”, I thought that I must have misunderstood something. But he actually said this. The following is an excerpt directly from the transcript of his speech…
Now let’s make two things clear: ISIL is not “Islamic.” No religion condones the killing of innocents, and the vast majority of ISIL’s victims have been Muslim. And ISIL is certainly not a state. It was formerly al Qaeda’s affiliate in Iraq, and has taken advantage of sectarian strife and Syria’s civil war to gain territory on both sides of the Iraq-Syrian border. It is recognized by no government, nor the people it subjugates. ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple. And it has no vision other than the slaughter of all who stand in its way.
And below I have posted a YouTube Video of the section of the speech in which he makes this statement…
When Obama said that ISIL is a “terrorist organization” with no agenda “other than the slaughter of all who stand in its way”, he made it sound like this group has absolutely no ideology that is driving it.
ISIS’ stated goal is to restore the “caliphate” — an Islamic state under the rule of a community of religious scholars guided by a supreme leader, the caliph or khalifah, which is generally taken to mean the successor to the Prophet Muhammad.
ISIL itself has publicly stated that the new caliphate has been established “for the purpose of compelling the people to do what the Sharia (Allah’s law) requires of them.”
What about this is so hard for Obama to understand?
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State, is calling himself “Caliph Ibrahim” these days. And his public statements leave no doubt about what the group is trying to do. Here are just three examples…
#1 “Allah likes us to kill his enemies and make jihad”
#2 “The establishment of a caliphate is an obligation. The religion cannot be in place unless the sharia (law) is established.”
#3 “God gave your mujahedeen brothers victory after long years of jihad and patience… so they declared the caliphate and placed the caliph in charge”
But due to the extreme political correctness in Washington D.C., most of our politicians won’t even use the term “Islamic State” even though that is exactly what the group is calling itself.
And according to the Washington Post, House Democrats had a “long debate” about whether to use the term “ISIS” or “ISIL” to refer to this organization. After much discussion, it was decided that “ISIL” was the more politically correct alternative…
In the Capitol on Tuesday morning, House Democrats decided after a long debate that they too would call the extremist group ISIL — partly because ISIS was a name that first belonged to a goddess, and then to thousands of women who took said goddess’s name, before a terrorist group claimed it. As Max Fisher at Vox reported last week, many women named Isis have been aggravated by the acronym favored by most people discussing the Islamic State. Isis Martinez, a woman in Miami, has been gathering signatures for a petition titled, “Thousands of Women are Named Isis, Please Petition the Media to Use the Accurate Acronym ISIL.” She has 138 signatures.
This is how bad political correctness has become in America.
Well, I am about to use a term which will surely offend politically correct people everywhere…
You see, the cold, hard reality of the matter is that the Islamic State is far from alone. All over the world, radical jihadist organizations are committing unspeakable acts in the name of Islam. In case you are ignorant about these organizations, here are the names of just a few of them…
Army of Islam
Mujahidin Shura Council in the Environs of Jerusalem
Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis
Ansar al-Shari’a in Tunisia
Ansar al-Shari’a in Darnah
Abdallah Azzam Brigades
Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan
Islamic Jihad Union
Libyan Islamic Fighting Group
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade
Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan
Are you starting to get the picture?
Islamic terror is real, and it is not going to go away just because our politically correct politicians wished that it did not exist.
Those that truly love liberty and freedom should be against tyranny in all of the forms in which it is found.
And one of the forms that tyranny takes in our world today is radical Islam.
Personally, that is not something that I would ever want for myself, for my family or for future generations of Americans.
What about you?
