tom_coburn_heritageThe FDA Chief Tom Vilsack has cut aid for 600,000 women and children on the WIC program, due to sequester.  Coburn points out all the waste and fraud that could have been cut instead.

For instance, they held a meeting on affordable housing for such run down areas like Martha’s Vineyard.  That’s right, Martha’s Vineyard, where the cheapest house, a two bedroom condo, sells for 260k.  The percenters living in Martha’s Vineyard are eligible for cheap taxpayer backed USDA loans.  But women and children can starve.  Remind me again, who declared war on women?

Evidently, the White House is replacing the beer summit with wine tasting détente.  The FDA is handing out grants to wineries throughout the country, including, but not limited to,  $300,000 to the Mackinaw Trail Winery in Michigan, $100,000 for the Appleton Creek Winery in New York, $162,500 for the Old Westminster Winery in Maryland, and tens of thousands of dollars to wineries in Nebraska and Iowa.  They will also be subsidizing the production of vodka in North Carolina, Bloody Mary mix in West Virginia, and hard cider in Virginia.

Coburn has given Vilsack until July 22nd to present a list of cost cutting measures implemented by the FDA.  Coburn should expect to receive FDA approved bull crap.
