Well this should not come as a surprise to anyone who watches Speaker of the House John Boehner. The spineless RINO (Republican in name only) warns against playing poker with the Democrats over funding Obamacare and pushing us completely into a socialist state and economic collapse. He has reportedly warned rank and file Republicans, in a conference call on Thursday, against using such a threat to stop Obamacare from being implemented.
Reuters reports:
On the call, Boehner reminded Republicans of the political backlash their party suffered when the government shut down in 1995-1996, according to one person on the call.
Another participant in the call, Oklahoma Representative Tom Cole, said the speaker’s main message was that he and other leaders were still committed to killing President Barack Obama’s signature health care law but that they did not want a government shutdown.
A House Republican aide, however, emphasized that no final decision has been made on whether to pursue a strategy advocated by some in the party of denying funds for Obamacare.
Perhaps someone can enlighten us all as to how Obamacare can be defeated in the current state of affairs without defunding it. The House has passed a resolution to prevent the Internal Revenue Service from enforcing Obamacare, which is sure to be dead in the Senate. They have also voted 40 times to repeal Obamacare and where has that gotten them?
Boehner is one that seemingly doesn’t have a plan to defeat Obamacare. He is merely Barack Obama’s “yes” boy. He might, on occasion, talk a good game, but when it comes to getting something done in the right direction, he’s entirely out to lunch.
In fact, Boehner said that when Congress reconvenes on September 9 following its summer break, “Our intent is to move quickly on a short-term continuing resolution that keeps the government running and maintains current sequester spending levels.”
So Boehner’s plan is not to deal with this mess that has been going on since Boehner took the role as Speaker of the House, it’s to delay it. Then what will happen? I’m sure Boehner will tell us we’ll have to delay it again, but keep up the pretense of another vote to repeal Obamacare and give us the rhetoric, but watch his actions. His actions tell you all you need to know about whose side he is on.
Why the House put this guy back in as Speaker is anyone’s guess, but one thing is for sure, he is not a leader. He is a compromiser and a failure, one who is constantly demonstrating by his actions that he is a capitulator. I mean he has been the one, along with Republican leadership in the House that approved $982 billion in a continuing resolution to fully implement Obamacare earlier this year! Boehner caved on the fiscal cliff and the debt ceiling too, and we’re already being told that the debt limit will more than likely hit its ceiling in mid-October! We still haven’t seen a budget implemented under Barack Obama, and we haven’t seen those pay cuts either that were proposed.
John Boehner has openly stated, “If I come out and say I’m for this,
and I’m for that, all I’m doing is making my job harder.” Perhaps he should have thought about that before asking people to elect him as their representative.
Frankly if the Republican leadership in the House doesn’t have the cajones to stand their rhetorical ground against funding Obamacare, then they don’t deserve to in leadership any more than the man in the Oval Office. I’m glad there are at least men like Steve Stockman who are a voice of reason in the House, willing to defund Obamacare, but will that be enough?
Here’s my final thought. Democrats were willing to put it all on the line to shove Obamacare down our throats. They even passed the legislation and had it signed into law not having a clue of all that was in it. Why won’t the Republican leadership, who were voted in following that fiasco, put it all on the line and force Obama and the Democrats to shut down the government in order to do what they “say” they believe is not only a “trainwreck,” but also unconstitutional? It’s their own political career my friends, plain and simple. Boehner and company don’t care about you and me anymore than Barack Obama and the Democrats.
