I apologize for bringing you this revolting news, but it’s too shocking to ignore.
Christopher Hooten reports for the UK’s The Independent, Feb. 12, 2014, that, responding to a tip-off, police arrested 11 people and closed a restaurant in Anambra, Nigeria, after two human heads wrapped in cellophane were discovered at a hotel restaurant that had been serving human flesh.
Human flesh was apparently being sold as an expensive treat at the restaurant, with authorities saying that roasted human head was even on the menu.
A pastor who had visited the eatery said, ”I went to the hotel early this year, after eating, I was told that a lump of meat was being sold at N700 (about $4.19), I was surprised, So I did not know it was human meat that I ate at such expensive price. What is this country turning into? Can you imagine people selling human flesh as meat? Seriously I’m beginning to fear people in this part of the world. “
According to the original report on OsunDefender, which calls itself “the 6th most visited newspaper website in Nigeria,” the arrest took place on Feb. 5, 2013, at a hotel (name withheld) very close to the popular Ose-Okwodu market in Anambra state.
A vegetable seller in the area said, “Each time I came to market, because the hotel is very close to the market, I always noticed funny movements in and out of the hotel; dirty people with dirty characters always come into the hotel. So, I was not surprised when the police made this discovery in the early hours of yesterday.”
The hotel owner, 6 women and 4 men were arrested. Along with the human heads, two AK47 rifles & other weapons were also discovered in the hotel.
The website WN.com (World News Network) has this photo (below) of a restaurant named Mr. Bigg’s, attached to its story on the Nigerian cannibalism.
Wikipedia says Mr. Bigg’s, styled after McDonald’s, is one of Nigeria’s first chain of fast food restaurants. Owned by conglomerate United African Company of Nigeria PLC, there are currently around 170 locations in Nigeria, including the country’s first drive-through restaurant. The restaurant’s specialty is meat-pie.
The International Business Times says “Reports of cannibalism sometimes emerge in Nigeria, but this is the first time a restaurant has been booked for selling human meat dishes.”

Editor’s Note: I find this quite interesting in light of Nigeria’s booming Muslim population and the continued terrorism threats of Boko Haram. No correlation has been drawn between the unknown hotel/restaurant and Islam but, nevertheless, you may find these two articles worth reading:
