We have reported accounts from both sides of the Michael Brown story over the last week, but until the last few days there has been very little supporting testimony for the case of Officer Darren Wilson. Is it possible that there really are over a dozen witnesses that corroborate his story?

A reporter for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch says that is exactly what her source is telling her.

We can not take any report, from any source, as completely factual. The unfortunate fact is that when people die witnesses and sources will sometimes lie. Agendas come in to play. People rally in support of their “friends” or simply to defend their own interests. Some people see what they want to see or are not really sure what they saw. It is a mess that our justice system deals with every single day.

Late last night, Christine Byers of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch sent out this tweet:

Again, despite the somewhat stunning claims, there are a lot of people involved. Her source could be wrong, for instance. It could be propaganda. We simply do not know. However, this certainly adds to the growing doubt for the narrative that Brown surrendered and was shot down in cold blood.

If there really are 12+ witnesses, then why have we not heard from any of them so far?

The answer to that would be quite simple and we can blame the media.

“Cop Kills Man in Self-Defense” does not sell many newspapers or get much web traffic. The unfortunate truth of the media, alternative media included, is that controversy drives revenue. It is that simple. So reporters have obviously sought out the witnesses who could add to that controversy and grow this story, while it is quite possible that there was never much of a story at all, other than the resulting protests and riots.

With all of that said, I have no horse in this race. I am like most Americans and simply want the truth. So the next natural question would seem to be…

What is Wilson’s Story?

So what is Wilson’s story? What happened?

Here is an audio from the Dana Show which might begin to piece it together:

Dr. Eowyn provides this transcript:

Here’s the transcript of Josie’s call beginning at the 1:16 mark:

“He [Darren Wilson] said that … they [Mike Brown and another guy] were walking in the middle of the street. He [Darren] pulled up, rolled the [car’s] window down and, um, the two guys out in the street, they refused to and they were yelling back … there was cussing involved. He [Darren] kept rolling up and pulled over … He pulled up ahead of them and was watching.

Then he [Darren] got a call-in that there was a strong-arm robbery, and they gave a description. And, he’s looking at them [Michael and friend] and they got something in their hands and it looks like it could be what, you know those cigars or whatever. So he [Darren] goes in reverse back to them. Tries to get out of his car. They slam his door shut violently. I think he [Darren] said Michael did. And, then he [Darren] opened the car again. He tried to get out. He stands up.

And then Michael just bum-rushes him [Darren] and shoves him back into his car, punches him in the face. And then Darren grabs for his gun. Michael grabbed for the gun. At one point he got the gun entirely turned against his hip. And he shoves it away. And the gun goes off.

Well, then Michael takes off with his friend and gets to be about 35 feet away. And Darren’s first protocol is to pursue. So he stands up and yells, “Freeze!” Michael and his friend turn around. And Michael was taunting him, ‘Oh what you’re gonna do about it. You’re not going to shoot me.’

And then all of a sudden he [Michael] just started to bumrush him [Darren]. He just started coming at him full speed. And, so he [Darren] just started shooting. And he [Michael] just kept coming. So he [Darren] really thinks he [Michael] was on something because he just kept coming. It was unbelievable. So he finally ended up, the final shot was to the forehead. And then he [Michaelo] fell about two, three feet in front of the officer. So that’s why the story’s going around that [Michael was shot in the back]. Of course, ballistics will prove he wasn’t shot in the back.”

On Saturday we also first uncovered another video which was taken at the scene. It has since been made private by the YouTube user. That is not a shock because the producer of the video seemed sympathetic to Brown’s innocence. The story was not the video itself. The story was a background conversation with a witness that seems to be giving a similar account, that Michael Brown rushed the officer and he had no choice but to shoot in self-defense:

The original video poster appears sympathetic to the narrative that Mike Brown was shot unarmed with his hands in the air. But he unknowingly picks up conversation between a man who saw the altercation and another neighbor.

An approximate transcription of the background conversation, as related by the “Conservative Treehouse” blog:

@6:28/6:29 of video

#1 How’d he get from there to there?

#2 Because he ran, the police was still in the truck – cause he was like over the truck

#2 But him and the police was both in the truck, then he ran – the police got out and ran after him

#2 Then the next thing I know he doubled back toward him cus – the police had his gun drawn already on him –

#1. Oh, the police got his gun

#2 The police kept dumpin on him, and I’m thinking the police kept missing – he like – be like – but he kept coming toward him

#2 Police fired shots – the next thing I know – the police was missing

#1 The Police?

#2 The Police shot him

#1 Police?

#2 The next thing I know … I’m thinking … the dude started running … (garbled something about “he took it from him”)

This is terribly important because if Mike Brown had been shot, and he advanced towards the cop instead of surrendering, it would substantiate the narrative that the policeman shot in self-defense due to the fact that he was being threatened with severe bodily harm.

Again, I am not providing any of this as proof of Officer Darren Wilson’s innocence. But I think serious doubts have been raised and there is a distinct possibility that Michael Brown was not gunned down in cold blood as many have rushed to assume.

Anything is possible.

The results of the first of at least two autopsies were released yesterday and indicated that Michael Brown was shot 6 times, but that none of those shots came from behind.

There is sure to be new information daily with this story.

But if there really are more than 12 witnesses who will support Officer Darren Wilson’s story, you can probably consider this case closed. I can’t see any court convicting a cop who has over a dozen witnesses in his corner.

Can you?
