It’s strange that this story didn’t get very much coverage after it happened, because quite frankly it’s pretty amazing. Last month, a news copter in Los Angeles was filming a low-speed police pursuit, when something very out of the ordinary happened. A random citizen stepped out into the street, and blocked the car with his body. The driver quickly walked out of the vehicle and surrendered, and the good samaritan restrained him on the hood of a police car.
The police, with their guns already drawn, cuffed both of them. The news reporters narrating the video couldn’t help but describe the man as “unstable” and “clearly under the influence of something.” Apparently, making a citizen’s arrest is now synonymous with being a drug addled lunatic.
