Not much has come out of the James Comey testimony, except that the most egregious violation of federal law was the incident which took place between Comey and Loretta Lynch regarding Hillary Clinton’s email scandal. Now, top Democrat Dianne Feinstein is calling for an investigation into possible illegal activities.
It’s actually a little surprising that this investigation demand is coming from a Democrat. Normally, the party members tow the line and balk those who look at corruption by their own. The top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee called for a congressional investigation into former Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe on Sunday. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-California) said she’s concerned by former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony Thursday that Lynch asked him to downplay his “investigation” into the Democratic presidential nominee as merely a “matter.”
Comey said the political request called into the question the credibility of Lynch’s Department of Justice and made him “queasy.” “I would have a queasy feeling too,” Feinstein admitted Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “I think we need to know more about that. And there’s only one way to know about it and that’s to have the Judiciary Committee take a look at that.” CNN’s mention of Feinstein calling for the investigation is buried in an article about “Russian election meddling,” unsurprisingly.
As if the media bias surrounding Comey’s testimony wasn’t painfully obvious, the fact the Feinstein stood against her own party is being buried. Feinstein likely shocked the members of the Democrat party when she took a fair and non-partisan stance. The infamous anti-gun Senator has rarely come across as fair in the past. She’s often been firmly on the side of the Obama Administration, so it is a little surprising to see her question Obama’s appointee as Attorney General.
Remember this little blast from the past?
Lynch, a Barack Obama nominee, ultimately had to distance herself from the FBI probe after meeting with former President Bill Clinton on a tarmac in Phoenix during the height of the election campaign and email investigation.
The shock factor of hearing a Democrat finally concerned about corruption is the big deal here. Maybe we can actually get some legitimate answers about other scandals too, such as Seth Rich’s death, the Fast and Furious gun-running scheme, and the many other egregious violations committed under the Obama Administration that all too many Democrats and the media were willing to sweep under the rug.
