No one could have predicted this!
From The College Fix:
Campus officials have yet to release any official fall 2018 enrollment numbers.
Paros’ post states that the college is publicly funded for a student population of 4,200. This coming year, the total student population is around 2,800, he writes.
I can’t imagine what could have driven this change!
As The Olympian reported in May, Evergreen dramatically jacked up student fees, slashed their budget and planned for layoffs to try and make up for a 5% drop in enrollment between fall 2016 to fall 2017.
An internal Evergreen report from March 2018 stated: “Further declines in applications (possibly by as much as 20 percent) and enrollments are expected for the Fall of 2018 based on current year-to-year data.”
It appears those “worst case scenario” estimates were a wee bit off!
