90 days ago I was faced with an uphill battle.
Social Media censorship was intensifying.
Advertisers were leaving.
The search engines were de-listing and down-ranking conservative sites.
Our traffic was hovering around 8000 visitors a day and we were in big trouble. 8000 visitors a day adds up to a very modest income in blogging, and after expenses it was putting us in a hole that we could not seem to dig out of.
The smart thing to do was quit.
I have a family to support and how can one possibly make the decision to continue with children counting on you to put food on the table?
I prayed and prayed and asked God what He wanted me to do.
God – Family – Country
There is a reason God is listed first on that list.
My family was hurting but my country was hurting as well, so I made the only choice there was to make. I decided to get tough, stand my ground, and FIGHT.
There is too much at stake to not fight.
I decided to expand and started a 2nd website (DC Dirty Laundry) to go with our struggling DC Clothesline site (which started in 2013).
The idea was that the censors did not have their clamps already down on a new site and it would take some time for them to catch up with us. It was a roll of the dice and IT WORKED!!!
Yesterday, between the two sites, we had over 20,000 visitors.
Today is looking to be on about the same pace.
You’d think I’d be ecstatic, but I’m not really in a rah-rah mood right now.
We averaged over 100,000 visitors a day before the censorship started. But still… 20,000 is moving back in the right direction and we are far from done.
Don’t get me wrong, I am very happy for the small win, but I am also exhausted.
You may have noticed that I haven’t been writing as much lately. That’s because I’m working hours upon hours trying to share our articles everywhere I can.
I am getting about 2-3 hours sleep a night and falling asleep in my chair lots. Sorry, I’m an old man. LOL
Writing articles has taken a back seat to promoting the other authors on the site and I have worked myself into near total exhaustion.
But I’m not done and it’s totally worth it.
This is not a job or a project for me.
This is my ministry and my war.
America, my family, your family and OUR GOD is counting on the truth to win out in this troubled time.
I don’t know how to beat the censors at their game. I am not that smart.
I only know how to outwork them.
Facebook censors conservative content hard, for example. Any of you that are on Facebook already knows this.
So what is my solution?
I’ve simply been doing twice as much sharing there.
Some of it slips through and we’ve had a couple of articles recently go semi-viral on Facebook.
Can you believe that?
All I know to do is fight with all I have.
I am not counting on Trump or Congress to save conservatives on social media. I hope they do but we all know about empty promises and our slow moving government.
Should we sit around and wait for the lawsuits and government actions that may never come or may never succeed?
Our job as conservatives is to stand and fight and that’s what I’m doing.
I can’t outsmart them but I can definitely outwork them.
If and when they start clamping down on DC Dirty Laundry, we will start a new site.
Until then we will survive and win a few battles en route to ultimate victory.
Yes, we will win.
Conservatism and common sense will win for America.
There is no other option.
And when there are no other options we can’t sit around and whine. Our job is to get to work.
While a lot of sites have been perpetuating their own slow death by playing the victim, we have come back from the dead.
Thank You so much for supporting us in our fight. We are a team and I appreciate all you have done for my family, my country and OUR God.
Keep fighting brothers and sisters because the final victory will be sweet and it is coming.
If you’d like to help fuel the expansion we are still taking donations at GoFundMe.
Please click here if you are able to donate, even if it’s 5 bucks.
We still aren’t out of danger but breathing much easier after receiving $1620 in donations in the last month or so. Our site income was a paltry $18,000 last year and had continued to decrease early this year, so we are just looking for a little help while we stabilize.
I won’t let you down. I am in this to win.
I’d also kindly ask that you join our mailing list at DC Dirty Laundry. If anything happens to DC Clothesline, this will become our primary site. And for those of you who are already visiting DC Dirty Laundry, this is a convenient way to get an email each evening which has a list of the day’s stories. Read what you want. Unsubscribe any time.
Thanks again for bringing our website back to life. I will endeavor to keep going forward and make sure I am part of the solution and not part of the problem. The truth has to get out and in order to do that, I have to find a way to not just survive but also thrive!
Today I can celebrate a small victory but there is much work to do. We aren’t done yet, not by a longshot.
Americans must know the truth.
God Bless America!
Dean Garrison is the Publisher at DC Clothesline and DC Dirty Laundry.
