Dems May Be Abandoning Pelosi On Impeachment Because She Keeps Pushing Back A Final Vote
(TNS) On Monday, USA Today ran an interview with Rep. Jeff Van Drew (D-N.J.), in which he said plainly that he’s not supportive of impeaching President Donald Trump because he hasn’t seen any ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’ committed by him yet.
Van Drew told USA Today in an interview published over the weekend that his “job isn’t really to like or dislike” the president.
“My job is to exact as much goodwill and help for my district and for this nation and for this world that I possibly can while he’s president,” he said, USA Features News reported.
Van Drew added that while he wasn’t thrilled with the president’s dealings with Ukraine, which are the subject of the impeachment inquiry, he said thus far he’s seen no impeachable offenses after several months of closed-door and public hearings.
To have a “small, elite group” of lawmakers attempt to remove a president less than a year before an election is indefensible and un-American, Van Drew told the paper.
“To some folks, that’s reminiscent of what was done to kings and queens many years ago,” Van Drew said. “Everything our country doesn’t stand for.”
How many more House Democrats feel like him? At least one more — longtime Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.), chairman of the House Agriculture Committee. Both of them voted against the only procedural vote held by the House on impeachment thus far.
But are others bailing as well — like, say, the 31 Democrats who represent districts President Trump won in 2016?
It’s possible. And that would certainly explain why House Speaker Nancy Pelosi continues to move the goalposts on a final impeachment vote.
We were told by her and other top Dems just a few weeks ago what a ‘moral imperative’ it was to get impeachment done soon — for the sake of our republic.
We’d have a vote by Thanksgiving. But it didn’t come.
Next, we were told we’d have a vote by Christmas. But as Fox News’ Chad Pergram notes, that may not come, either. In fact, Pelosi may push the vote back until next year.
9) Unclear when Dems could try to put impeachment on the flr. Dems today announced the Hse will remain in session almost until Christmas. Remember the House voted to impeach President Clinton on the Saturday before Christmas in 1998. We could have a similar scenario this round.

10) Do Democrats have the votes for impeachment? Pelosi is a master at reading her caucus. If Pelosi has the votes she’ll likely give the green light to impeach on the floor. If Pelosi doesn’t have the votes impeachment could wait – conceivably until the New Year.

11) A member of Pelosi’s leadership team today told Fox that the backlog of bills up this month in the House “works against” a December impeachment vote. And the Democrat noted that impeachment “doesn’t fit the holiday spirit.” That means impeachment could wait until 2020.

Nearly six weeks of impeachment hearings. 24/7 coverage on the propaganda media networks. But few Americans paid attention. And the Democrats failed to move the needle one iota among the general public to favor impeachment.
In fact, President Trump’s approval ratings are going up, even among minorities.
The goal among Democrats and their media allies has always been to drive down the president’s approval ratings so low that impeachment would be politically popular. And while it remains so among a faction of Americans, the majority don’t want to see it.
Including, we have to assume, a majority of voters in Dem districts Trump owned in 2016.
