Soros-funded St Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Garnder on Monday afternoon announced she filed felony charges against Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the couple seen defending their home from Black Lives Matter rioters who invaded their privately-owned neighborhood.
Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the Central West End couple who confronted protesters June 28 with a rifle and a gun in Mayor Lyda Krewson’s neighborhood, have been charged with unlawful use of a weapon/flourishing.
The unlawful use of a weapon charge is a class E felony, which can carry a sentence of up to four years in prison and a fine of $10,000. Sources tell 5 On Your Side Gardner’s office will be issuing a summons for the couple to appear in court.
Gardner released the following (low resolution) statement on Twitter and described the unhinged mob as “peaceful” protesters:

“Today my office filed charges against Mark and Patricia McCloskey following an incident involving peaceful, unarmed protesters on June 28. It is illegal to wave weapons in a threatening manner at those participating in nonviolent protest, and while we are fortunate this situation did not escalate into deadly force, this type of conduct is unacceptable in St. Louis.
The decision to issue charges was made after a thorough investigation with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
I am open to recommending the McCloskey’s participate in one of my office’s diversion programs that are designed to reduce unnecessary involvement with the courts. I believe this would serve as a fair resolution in this manner.”
Governor Mike Parson refused to stand up for the McCloskeys at first but after being hounded by Tucker Carlson and others he came out and said he’s prepared to pardon the couple if they’re charged.

“Missouri Gov. Parson said Trump is keeping an eye on the case,” KMOV reported on Saturday. “During a phone call, Trump told the governor he ‘understands the situation in St. Louis and how out of control it is for a prosecutor to let violent criminals off and not do their job and try to attack law-abiding citizens.'”
Trump’s campaign invited the McCloskeys to speak during a digital campaign event on Friday night.
The McCloskey’s attorney, Joel J. Schwartz, issued the following statement on Monday:
“The charges filed today against my clients, Mark and Patricia McCloskey, are disheartening as I unequivocally believe no crime was committed.
I, along with my clients, support the First Amendment right of every citizen to have their voice and opinion heard. This right, however, must be balanced with the Second Amendment and Missouri law, which entitle each of us to protect our home and family from potential threats.
With that being said, given the heightened attention focused on this matter due to the current political environment, I don’t believe it is prudent to comment any further, at this time, or to try this case in the media.
I look forward to reviewing the evidence and defending the McCloskeys against these allegations.”
The McCloskeys may be set to argue the guns were unloaded and therefor incapable of lethal force.
In order to issue the charges, prosecutors must prove the guns were capable of lethal force.
Watkins told reporters the pistol Patricia McCloskey used was only a prop from a federal trial that the couple used in a case. Both of them are attorneys.
A source familiar with the investigation told 5 On Your Side that police did not find any ammunition at the McCloskeys’ home and the rifle was not loaded when they seized it.
Mark McCloskey earlier this month slammed Black Lives Matter as a “Marxist organization opposed to everything I stand for and everything I hold near and dear.”
“I do stand for equal justice under the law, but that’s got nothing to do with this terrorist organization known as Black Lives Matter,” McCloskey said.
Gardner is one of many District/Circuit Attorneys who received funding from billionaire George Soros and is now prosecuting law-abiding citizens for defending themselves while letting rioters and looters go free.
