Why should we worry about social media networks? Do I really need to ask or answer that question? Isn’t it obvious from the abuses of Facebook and Twitter that social media companies can be quite corrupt and connected to governmental information gathering? What if that TikTok, even scarier, has definitive ties to the Chinese Communist Party?

Would it be a “conspiracy” to think that Chinese Communist spies are collecting data on your family through your teenagers TikTok account? I don’t think so but you need to understand that there are a few elected government employees that are pushing this narrative, or possibility, and I thank God for that. Some, like Kristi Noem, are still trying to get to the truth and shield American citizens from perceived dangers of social media information gathering.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has ordered all state employees and contractors to cease using TikTok on their government-issued devices due to fears the wildly popular short-video app is used by the Chinese government to gather Americans’ personal data.

“This order is in response to the growing national security threat posed by TikTok due to its data gathering operations on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP),” according to a press release issued by Noem’s office.

“South Dakota will have no part in the intelligence gathering operations of nations who hate us,” Noem, a rising Republican star who has been mentioned as a possible 2024 presidential candidate, is quoted as saying.

“The Chinese Communist Party uses information that it gathers on TikTok to manipulate the American people, and they gather data off the devices that access the platform.”

PIERRE, S.D. – Today, Governor Kristi Noem signed Executive Order 2022-10, which bans the Chinese social media platform TikTok for state government agencies, employees, and contractors using state devices. This order is in response to the growing national security threat posed by TikTok due to its data gathering operations on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

“South Dakota will have no part in the intelligence gathering operations of nations who hate us,” said Governor Kristi Noem. “The Chinese Communist Party uses information that it gathers on TikTok to manipulate the American people, and they gather data off the devices that access the platform.”

The order takes effect immediately and would apply to employees and agencies of the State of South Dakota, including persons and entities who contract with the state, commissions, and authorities or agents thereof. The order prohibits downloading or using the TikTok application or visiting the website on state-owned or state-leased electronic devices capable of internet connectivity.

For those who don’t know, I am in Nebraska now but a proud former Missouri resident. Let’s show a video now from Senator Josh Hawley as he raises critical questions about the spying capability and possible reality of TikTok spying for the Chinese Communist Party, while interviewing on of their executives.

Go Josh go! Kristi Noem and Josh Hawley are 2, of very few, good elected representatives that are still fighting for those that elected them. We don’t see that much in politics anymore, nor do we see fair elections but a few do sneak through. They certainly aren’t gaining favor with younger voters in their states by questioning TikTok, but these questions need to be asked.

I want to show you one more video, from Sky News Australia:

Again, this is not just “conspiracy theorists” like me that are questioning TikTok as a modern day Trojan Horse. We can’t deny the transgressions of Facebook and Twitter in the past. Hopefully Elon Musk will fix Twitter, but…

You can’t fully trust any of these social media networks fully. “Tin Foil Hat Dean” often wonders if Elon Musk letting conservative voices back on Twitter is just him being another Trojan Horse sent to gather our data. Hopefully I’m wrong but we’ve seen it before, over and over again.

Governments of the world tend to know more about us than our so called “best friends” sometimes do. Isn’t that important to know and protect against? I think so.

Try very hard to get your kids off of TikTok because it’s just another way that governments are collecting information on them and you.
